Key milestones from 1957 to today

1957

Where it all began

The Refrigeration Centre is founded in Blackburn, in the north of England, servicing commercial refrigeration across the North UK.

Certificate of Incorporation features a royal emblem and text certifying "THE REFRIGERATION CENTRE (BLACKBURN) LIMITED" under the Companies Act, 1948, on September 1, 1960, signed by Senior Assistant Registrar.

1999

Husky is born

With sales a natural progression from servicing, The Refrigeration Centre becomes Husky Refrigeration Ltd, opening its sales office in the village of Leire, Leicestershire.

2000

First major supply agreement

Husky signs a sole-supply agreement with Finnish refrigeration manufacturer Helkama OY for coolers and freezers into the UK.

2001

Multi-million pound brand contracts

First multi-million pound contracts signed with drinks giants Lucozade (GSK) and Stella Artois (InBev) for branded commercial products.

2002

A world first for the home

In collaboration with Foster’s and Asda, Husky launches the KuleKube, the world’s first branded drinks cooler for the home, with a first order of 20,000 units sold across Asda supermarkets.

Five brand-themed mini fridges are lined up, each displaying their respective beverages: Freixenet Prosecco, Budweiser, Guinness, Carlsberg, and Diet Coke, against a reflective white background.

2003

Husky goes international

Husky opens its first overseas sales and sourcing office in Guangzhou, China. The same year, UK sales pass £2 million in a single calendar month for the first time.

2004

A new UK home

Husky UK moves to its state-of-the-art warehouse and sales office in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.

2006

100,000 KuleKubes

Husky sells over 100,000 KuleKubes in a single year.

2007

Manufacturing partnership and the USA

Husky agrees its first joint-partnership manufacturing facility in China and opens its USA sales office in Bradenton, Florida.

2009

Partnership with Coca-Cola

Husky agrees a joint partnership with Coca-Cola to supply licensed domestic fridges worldwide.

2010

Husky International is formed

Husky International Ltd is created to supply customers worldwide outside the UK.

2014

New ownership

The Husky group of companies is purchased by new CEO Serge Kremer.

2015

Our own factory

All production moves to a new 10,000 sqm wholly owned (WOFE) manufacturing facility in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China.

2018

Husky Intelligent Fridges

Husky Intelligent Fridges is formed in Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands: a high-tech R&D centre for smart and unattended refrigeration solutions.

2021

Trebling capacity

Growing worldwide sales see the factory relocate to a new 30,000 sqm site in Foshan, China.

2024

The Eco Range

Husky International releases a full range of back bar coolers, upright fridges and freezers that rank amongst the most energy-efficient available anywhere in the world.

2025

Selfly Store acquisition

Husky Intelligent Fridges purchases Selfly Store retail solutions, based in Finland.

2026

ISO certified

Husky International obtains ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification at its Foshan manufacturing plant.
